Indian Scout Bobber UK Dealer Launch: Saturday, 14th October 2017, saw the UK dealer launch of the Indian Scout Bobber. As you already know, though it’s worth restating – it’s a fine piece of design engineering.
The Scout Bobber is a sportier version of the Scout and is likely to attract riders who may be considering a Harley Sportster (Forty-Eight) – or Soft-Tail like the Fat Bob. Also, this bike may sway riders who are considering the Triumph Bobber as an outlier.
Indian Scout Bobber: Sporty, Stripped-Back & Chopped
The Scout Bobber uses the same V-twin, liquid-cooled, 1133cc engine as the Scout, which creates 94hp and 97Nm of torque, so there’s plenty of grunt.
The bike also uses the Scout’s aluminium frame, which helps to achieve a kerbside weight of 255kg. Relatively speaking that’s light. A lot lighter than you’d expect for a bike of this size and nature.
Slammed Stance
The pegs have been pulled a smidgen under 4cm closer to the rider which offers a more assertive riding position than the Scout. Low rise tracker bars offer urban agility. Lower rear suspension coupled with cartridge forks on the front gives the bike a slammed stance. Indian says this affords riders greater feedback/control, along with stability.
The Scout Bobber proves that less is truly more. True to classic Bobber style…..
In designing the Scout Bobber, Indian Motorcycle has taken a minimalist approach – stripping-back, chopping and minimising the least essential and standout parts of the bike. The fenders receive the chop treatment, the headlight nacelle and the pipes are blacked-out giving the front-end a meaner look.
Even the tank badge receives the minimalist treatment in the form of modern pragmatic lettering; simply spelling out the words “INDIAN SCOUT”.
Scout Bobber Colours
There are five colour options to choose from, all of which are really quite appealing.

Scout Bobber UK Price
The UK price for the Scout Bobber starts at £11,299 – which makes it highly competitively priced, against bikes in its class.
Whatever your thoughts are about the ‘Bobber’ moniker and your position on factory-built bobbers, it’s difficult to argue that this bike isn’t a fine looking machine. And equally that it doesn’t represent relatively good value for money. Altogether, the Scout Bobber is a welcome addition to the ‘Bobber’ segment and it’s great to see it now shipping in the UK.
