Back in 2014 Husqvarna Motorcycles piqued interest with a preview of two new road bike concepts – Vitpilen and Svartpilen. As a motorcycle marque, Husqvarna Motorcycles is one of the oldest in the world and widely known for its off-road prowess.
The bikes were presented as contemporary interpretations of a café racer and street scrambler, Vitpilen and Svartpilen respectively.
In designing these bikes, Husqvarna Motorcycles looked back to its road racing heritage and is aiming to reassert its on-road pedigree.
Husqvarna Vitpilen 701
Both the Vitpilen and Svartpilen concepts were received with enthusiasm but it wasn’t until 2016 at ECIMA Milan, that Husqvarna unveiled production prototypes of both models.
Since then there hasn’t been much information, though many expected the bikes to launch in the spring of 2017. However earlier this year there were reports and spy shots of the Vitiplen 701 being tested and rumours abound that bikes are nearly ready.
Husqvarna Svartiplen 401
It’s firmly motorcycle show-and-tell season now; the Tokyo Motor Show, EICMA and Motorcycle Live are all just around the corner, so are we likely to hear an announcement that Husqvarna will be taking orders for the Svartpilen and Vitpilen soon? It remains to be seen.
In the meantime here are some photographs of the bikes to whet your appetite.

The Aero version of the Vitpilen is a racer derivative and a real head-turner too however it’s merely a concept at this stage.
